Our RML 2679

In 2004 Tara decided to become a fully fledged member of the bus enthusiast's society and we purchased our own Routemaster vehicle for use on corporate events etc. Below, we have included a concise history of the vehicle and would welcome any pictures that you may have of the bus whilst it was in service in London. Build complete & vehicle stored at Aldenham Works

August 1967

Sent into pre-service store at Hanwell Garage

1st September 1967

First registered (Registration number SMK 679F)

September 1967

Entered service at Hanwell Bus Garage operating on London Transport route 207A whose main via points were Hayes Station, Southall, Ealing, Acton, Shepherds Bush, Kensington, Fulham & Chelsea

September 1970

Bus underwent a repaint at Aldenham Works

September 1974

Bus underwent an overhaul and left the Aldenham works with Body number B2676

September 1974

Bus entered service at Chalk Farm Garage & operated on London Transport route 3 whose main via points were Camden Town, Oxford Circus, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Lambeth Bridge, Oval, Brixton, Herne Hill, West Dulwich, Crystal Palace

October 1975 

Bus was transferred & entered service at Bow Garage & worked on various routes serving the city and the east end of London

September 1976

Bus was unlicensed at Bow Garage

November 1976

Bus re-entered service at Bow Garage & continued working on various routes serving the city and the east end of London

April 1977

Bus underwent a repaint

May 1981

Bus was unlicensed at Bow Garage

August 1981

Bus re-entered service at Bow Garage & once again, continued working on various routes serving the city and the east end of London

October 1981

Bus underwent a overhaul and left the works with Body number B2672

October 1981

Bus entered service at Finchley Garage & worked on routes serving the north/north west of London & the west end of London

January 1986

Bus underwent an overhaul at the AEC Works Southall Storage Site

February 1986

Bus entered service at Shepherds Bush Garage operating on London Transport route 88 whose main via points were Acton Green, Shepherds Bush, Notting Hill Gate, Marble Arch, Oxford Circus, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Westminster, Vauxhall Bridge, Stockwell, Clapham, Tooting Broadway, Mitcham

September 1988

Bus underwent a repaint

February 1991

Cummins engine fitted by Volvo

June 1992

Bus refurbished by TBP Holdings

July 1994

Bus entered service at Holloway Bus Garage operating on London Transport route 10 whose main via points were Hammersmith, Kings Cross, Tufnell Park, Archway Station

October 1994

Following privatisation of the London Bus Market the Bus was sold to MTL London and continued to operate from Holloway Bus garage operating on Route 10

August 1998

MTL sold its London operations to another London Bus Market Operator, Metroline

July 2000

Bus underwent a repaint

March 2003

Bus entered service at Kings Cross Bus Garage and operated on the newly created Transport for London bus route 390 whose main via points were Archway Station, Tufnell Park, Camden, Kings Cross Station, Euston Station, Euston Road, Tottenham Court Road Station, Oxford Circus, Marble Arch             

August 2004

Bus withdrawn from service & sold to Tara Support Services Limited

September 2004

Complete refurbishment & repaint was undertaken by present owners
